MISSION STATEMENT
As a dance educator, I want to teach so that dance studies can be useful to my students. I want to relate dance to different aspects of students' lives by using personal experiences, varied subjects, and sources from their cultural backgrounds and limitless imagination.
Many people think that all you do is replicate steps when you are in a dance class, but that is not accurate. Dancers have to express themselves in writing and also understand the kinesiology of their bodies. They must understand how and why their bodies move in a specific way. They must be able to connect physically to sources of expression and write down their choreography. As a dance educator, I want to educate my students about the history of modern dance, cultural dances, ballet, and the dances we do in everyday life.
I want to teach students of all levels because I want to impact every age in any way I can. Growing up in New York, I want to work for the department of education because I understand that many urban students need to dance as a stress reliever. Dance Allow students to transform negative energy into positive energy. I want to teach because I am passionate about what I do and realized that I could help students explore their imagination and artistry throughout my years as an educator. Even if they are not dancers in my eyes, they create their limitless imagination in my classroom. I also wanted to allow the students to have proper dance training if they were not given that opportunity in their home. I live, breathe, and deeply love dance. I want my students to leave with the appreciation of dance or feel what I feel every time I teach or perform.
